This Week in Rattlers Tennis
Trinity Invitational
Sept. 19-21 • All Day • Butch Newman Tennis Center
Venturing Out: For the first time in 2025-26, the St. Mary's Men's Tennis team will leave the friendly confines of the Rohrbach Tennis Stadium, heading across town to compete at the Trinity Invitational at the Butch Newman Tennis Center. The tournament will feature teams from Lubbock Christian, St. Mary's, Trinity and UIW.
What A Start: Four Rattlers with at least five matches under their belts this season have only one loss. Junior Leonardo Fabbri leads the team with a record of 6-1, while both sophomore Lucas Castillo Sanchez and freshman Nikita Gavrilonoks are 5-1 and junior Louis Hein is 4-1.
Doubled Up: The doubles teams of Lincoln Baldonado with Lucas Castillo Sanchez and Leonardo Fabbri with Evan Walther are both 3-0 after sweeping the competition at the Lilly Kimbell Memorial. A season ago, Baldonado and Castillo Sanchez paired up to go 3-4 in doubles action - all during the fall.
Welcome: St. Mary's has five newcomers on its 12-man roster in 2025-26, including senior transfer Fabian Rosales from the now defunct DBU team, and Wheaton transfer Evan Walther to go along with a trio of freshmen.
Oh, So Smart: Junior Leonardo Fabbri was named to the CSC Academic All-District team a season ago, while senior Bernhard Hauer was voted to the Lone Star Conference All-Academic team.
What's Next: The Rattlers will have a week off to concentrate on the ITA South Central Regional, hosted this season in Wichita Falls on Oct. 2-4.
