SHERIDAN, Wyo. — After 18 holes at the Travis Roy Memorial, the No. 13 St. Mary's University Men's Golf team sits in seventh place after shooting a 298 on day one.
The Rattlers are eight shots off the lead at +10, while both Colorado Mesa and Colorado State-Pueblo are two-over par to lead the field.
Sophomore
Guillaume Paquette (La Minerve, Quebec) entered the clubhouse even par after carding a 72, while junior Philip Hallstrom (Gävle, Sweden) was one shot behind at 73, and sophomore
Elijah Galvan (Austin, Texas) fired a 74. Senior
Kongpop Kaikaew (Rayong, Thailand) shot a 79, and senior
Baptiste Touchard (Saint-Agathon, France) did not figure into the team scoring on day one with an 80.
Paquette's 72 has him in a four-way tie for 8th place, while Hallstrom is in a six-way tie for 12th, and Galvan is locked in a five-way tie for 18th place. Kaikaew is tied for 40th with two others, while Touchard is also knotted with two others for 43rd place in the 60-player field.
Colorado Mesa's Dylan Everett carded a 69 and leads the field by one stroke.
Round two of the 36-hole tournament is set to begin at The Powder Horn Golf Club on Tuesday at 10 a.m. (CT)/9 a.m. (MT).
