This Week In Rattlers Golf
Travis Roy Memorial • Sheridan, Wyo.
Sept. 15-16 • Powder Horn Golf Club

•    The St. Mary's Men's Golf team begins the 2025-26 season at the Travis Roy Memorial at Powder Horn Golf Club in Sheridan, Wyoming. It is the first-time in school history the Rattlers have competed in a tournament in Wyoming.

•    The Travis Roy is the second-most Northern location for a tournament during the regular season in  StMU Men's golf history. In 2000, St. Mary's tied for sixth at the District V Qualifier at the Wildflower Golf Course in Detroit Lakes, Michigan.

•    The lineup for the first tournament of the year is 1) Baptiste Touchard, 2) Kongpop Kaikaew, 3) Guillaume Paquette, 4) Philip Hallstrom and 5) Elijah Galvan.

•    The weather forecast for Sheridan calls for mostly cloudy skies with highs in the mid-70s and winds out of the Northwest approximately 10 miles per hour.

•    St. Mary's is ranked No. 13 in the GCAA Bushnell/GolfWeek Preseason Poll. It is the first time since the 2019-2020 preseason poll that the Rattlers have been in the top-25 to begin a season. That team was ranked No. 10, ending the year in the same position.

•    The Rattlers finished seventh at the 2025 NCAA National Championship, advancing to medal-match play, where they lost in the quarterfinals. All five golfers who competed at the NCAA Championship return to the roster for 2025-26.

•    Senior Baptiste Touchard (Third-Team) and Guillaume Paquette (Honorable Mention) were both honored on the GCAA PING All-American team at the conclusion of the 2024-25 season.

•    A season ago, both Kongpop Kaikaew and Baptiste Touchard were named to the Lone Star All-Conference First Team, while Guillaume Paquette earned honorable mention honors, Elijah Galvan was the Freshman of the Year and Connor McCarthy was the Coach of the Year.

•    The 2024-25 team rewrote the record books at St. Mary's. Kongpop Kaikaew and Baptiste Touchard tied the single-season record for rounds of par or better at 22, knotting Emilio Gonzalez' mark from 2018-19. Kaikaew, Touchard and Elijah Galvan are now tied atop the leaderboard for most rounds played in a season with 38. Kaikaew broke the single round record, shooting a 62 at the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational, while Touchard carded a 63 at the NCAA Regional for the second-lowest. Kaikaew set the lowest 54-tournament total with his 198 at the Palmer Invite.

•    Alumnus Emilio Gonzalez (2016-2020) secured a PGA Tour membership for 2026. Gonzalez won the Albertsons Boise Open presented by Chevron in mid-August to punch his ticket after recording six top-10s in his 20 starts in 2025. He has been a member of the Korn Ferry Tour the last three years.

•    St. Mary's earned Presidents Special Recognition from the PLATFORM Golf Team Academic Awards presented by GCAA after recording a team GPA of above 3.50. The Rattlers were the only team from the Lone Star Conference and one of only 19 teams at the DII level to be recognized for their work in the classroom.
