NORMAN, Okla. — The PLATFORM Golf Team Academic Awards were announced on Tuesday by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA), and St. Mary's University Men's Golf earned Presidents Special Recognition for having a team GPA of 3.5 or better.
The Rattlers, who finished seventh at the NCAA Championship, are the only team from the Lone Star Conference and one of only 19 teams at the DII level to be recognized for their work in the classroom. St. Mary's is one of 129 schools across the six divisions (NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA, NJCAA Division I, NJCAA Division II, HBCU) to have a 3.5 GPA or better.
There are a record 292 teams to earn All-Academic Team status, which is for teams with a 3.00 GPA or better. Oklahoma Christian and UT Tyler joined the Rattlers on that list from the Lone Star.
Both
Philip Hallström (Gävle, Sweden) and
Baptiste Touchard (Saint-Agathon, France) were recently named All-America Scholars by the association, while Touchard and
Kongpop Kaikaew (Rayong, Thailand) were honored by CSC on its Academic All-District team.
