We sat down with Men's Basketball Head Coach
Bubba Meyer, who also enters his third season as head coach in 2025-26; however, he's been a part of St. Mary's Athletics since birth and is beginning his 25th year on the sidelines for the team. The Rattlers finished fourth in the Lone Star Conference last season and made their return to the NCAA Tournament, reaching the second round.Â

Q: What do you enjoy doing most when you're not coaching or recruiting?
A:Â Spending time with my family.

Q: What movie will you always watch on tv, no matter how many times you've seen it?
A:Â A-Team.

Q: What is your favorite quote and why does it resonate with you?
A: It's hard to soar like an eagle if you surround yourself with pigeons. In a team environment, you want to surround yourself with the best people possible. Hold each other to an incredibly high standard. And focus on the success of the group.

Q: Is there a skill you've always wanted to learn?
A:Â To be a long-range marksman.

Q: If you had $1,000 to spend on yourself, where would you spend it, and on what?
A: Concert tickets for friends and family at Floore's Country Store.

Q: What are three songs on your playlist right now?
A:Â I don't have a playlist, but if I don't like practice or a game result, then the aux is mine, and it is Texas country all day as loud as possible. Be ready for some Turnpike!!!Â

Q: What is your favorite sport to play, other than the one you coach?
A:Â Â Pickleball in the neighborhood against my boys. I love beating them regularly!!Â

Q: What is the weirdest food or weirdest food combination that you love?Â
A:Â I love barbecue sauce on anything!

Q:Â If you could relive one moment from your life, which one would you choose?
A: Riding home from St. Mary's or Fatso's with my dad in his old truck. Even just one time…

Q:Â Do you play any musical instruments? If so, which ones?
A: I have zero musical talent whatsoever. But, I am a strong believer in the need for more cowbell!!
