Quartet from Baseball Named to Academic All-District Team

SAN ANTONIO — Four St. Mary's University Baseball student-athletes were named to the Academic All-District team by College Sports Communicators (CSC).
 
Garrett Brooks, Hogan Heller, Matthew Janecek and Easton Parrish all earn the award for the first time in their careers.
 
The honor evaluates a player's contributions on and off the field. To qualify, a player must have played at least one year at their current institution, maintain a 3.50 GPA, and be a starter or key reserve player.
 
Brooks, a junior from Spring Branch, Texas, played both left field and first base for the 2025 season, hitting .335 with 11 doubles and 10 home runs. He played in all 53 games, starting 52. Brooks is pursuing a degree in management.
 
Heller, a senior from San Antonio, recently graduated with a bachelor's degree in exercise & sport science. The first baseman led the team with a .353 batting average, starting 40 of the 42 games in which he played. Heller had seven doubles, one triple and four home runs.
 
A sophomore from Houston, Janecek was 3-2 on the hill in 14 appearances with two saves. He fanned 39 batters, walking only 13 in 40 innings. Opponents hit only .240 against the finance & risk management major.
 
A Third-Team Lone Star All-Conference and All-Academic selection, Parrish was a mainstay behind the plate for the Rattlers. The La Vernia, Texas native hit .296, leading the club with 13 home runs and 26 extra-base hits. He tied for the team lead with 25 walks and led with five sacrifice flies. Parrish completed his master's degree in business administration, after earning a bachelor's degree in exercise & sport science.
 
The Rattlers finished 29-24 in the 2025 season, reaching the first week of the Lone Star Conference Tournament.
