SAN ANTONIO — St. Mary's University Men's Tennis senior
Alvaro Soler was named to the Academic All-America Third Team selected by College Sports Communicators.
Soler, from Alicante, Spain, graduated with a 3.98 GPA in finance & risk management and was a two-time Lone Star All-Conference First Team selection, a two-time Lone Star All-Academic pick and was three times named to the league's All-Sportsmanship team. He ranked No. 58 in the final ITA poll in 2025 after posting an 11-3 dual record with a 5-1 record against LSC opponents. Soler also finished his career ranked No. 10 in the South Central region.
The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist the College Sports Communicators with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Division II Academic All-America® program. To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must have a minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA and meet high athletic standards. CSC members vote on the teams.
Soler is the first Academic All-American selection for the Rattlers in Men's Tennis since Michael Maciel earned the prestigious honor in 2016-17, where he was named to the Second Team. Soler is also the only student-athlete from the Lone Star Conference named to the 2025 Division II teams.
