SAN ANTONIO — Three St. Mary's University Men's Tennis student-athletes were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team on Tuesday.
For the second straight season,
Alvaro Soler was honored on the prestigious team, while
Pierre Copin and sophomore
Leonardo Fabbri earned a place for the first time in their St. Mary's careers. The honor evaluates a player's contributions on and off the field. To qualify, a player must have played at least one year at their current institution, maintain a 3.50 GPA, and be a starter or key reserve player.
Soler, a senior from Alicante, Spain, was recently named to the Lone Star All-Conference First Team and Lone Star All-Sportsmanship team for the third time, while also earning Lone Star All-Academic for the second time in his four seasons. He will graduate on Saturday with a bachelor's degree in finance & risk management. Soler holds the St. Mary's career record for singles victories in conference play with 17, and he ends his career 67-27 in singles action and 41-8 in duals.
Copin, a graduate transfer from Vidauban, Var, France, is wrapping up a master's degree in public administration. In his lone season with the Rattlers, Copin posted an 8-10 mark in singles and a 13-11 record in doubles, including records of 5-8 and 7-7 in duals, respectively.
Fabbri, a sophomore from Faenza, Italy, spent his second season as the number one singles player for the Rattlers. He was 12-16 overall, with a 6-11 dual record. In doubles play, the finance & risk management major was 13-13 overall and 6-10 in duals, playing at line one most of the spring.
St. Mary's collected half of the Lone Star Conference's selections on the team, as UT Permian Basin had two nods and UT Tyler added one.
