SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The St. Mary' University STUNT team split a pair of games on the final day of the 2025 regular season, defeating Purdue Northwest 19-3 before dropping a close 14-13 contest to Missouri Baptist on Sunday.
The Rattlers (13-10) will now wait for the announcement of the teams advancing to the National STUNT Championship. The teams will be announced on Thursday, April 10. The Championship will begin April 24 in Nashville, Tenn.
Game One Recap
The Rattlers pitched a shutout in the first two quarters, scoring three points in partner stunts and three points in pyramids & tosses to build a 6-0 lead at halftime.
StMU kept the momentum going after the break, scoring a point in all four routines in jumps & tumbling, though the Pride earned a tie in the first round during routine four to make the score 10-1.
The Rattlers gave up only two points in the fourth quarter, winning two of three in routine one, two of three in routine four, all three in number two and two of three in number three for the 19-3 final.
Game Two Recap
There was some initial confusion at the end of the game, as the teams thought the score was tied and headed to overtime for the second straight year, but the scores were changed, and the No. 2 team in the NAIA, Missouri Baptist, snuck out a 14-13 win over the Rattlers.
The clubs were tied at the end of the first quarter (2-2) and at halftime (4-4) but the Rattlers gained the 7-6 edge in jumps & tumbling, winning routines six and five, and earning a tie in routine one.
During the team routines, the Rattlers swept routine five, while the Spartans won all three points on number two. Each team received two points during the third round for the 12-11 tally. Missouri Baptist managed to score three points in the final round, while the Rattlers scored one for the come-from-behind 14-13 win.
