SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — At the Drury Tournament, the St. Mary's University STUNT team started the tournament off with a bang, winning both contests on day one. The Rattlers defeated Central Methodist 18-9 and ended Saturday with an 18-6 victory over host Drury.
St. Mary's is now 12-9 on the year and wrap up the regular season on Sunday, facing No. 14 Purdue Northwest at 10 a.m. and second-ranked Missouri Baptist from the NAIA at 1 p.m. The team will then await word on whether they qualify for the third-straight STUNT National Championship.
Game One Recap
For the second time this season, the Rattlers scored a point in all three sections of all four routines in the fourth quarter. The two teams tied on four of the sections to bring the final tally to 18-9.
The only other time the Rattlers earned 12 points in the fourth quarter was the first-ever sweep in school history over Texas A&M-Kingsville on Feb. 28.
The two teams only called routines one through four across all four quarters, with the Rattlers scoring three in the first, two in the second and one in the third. The Eagles tallied one in the first, two in the second, three in the third and four in the fourth.
This was the Rattlers' first-ever meeting against Central Methodist, moving them to 5-2 this season against first-time opponents.

Game Two Recap
The Rattlers improved to 3-0 in school history against the Drury Panthers, winning 18-6 in the second game of the day.
All eight levels of routines were called at least once in the match, though both teams forfeited number eight in the third quarter, jumps & tumbling.
The Panthers won the first point, winning routine seven in partner stunts but the Rattlers won the next two with a tie in the fourth round for the 3-2 StMU lead, and they never trailed again.
Drury again took the first point in the second quarter, with the Rattlers winning the final three points. StMU scored both points in the third stanza and outscored the Panthers 10-3 in the final period.
