Leaving the State: St. Mary's leaves the state of Texas for only the second time this season, heading to Lawton, Oklahoma for a four-game series at Cameron beginning on Friday at 6 p.m.

Now Appearing: St. Mary's has hit 44 home runs this season, which is tied for 10th on the school's single-season record list. The team is tied with the 1996 and 2008 teams, while the 1998 squad owns the record with 79 homers.

Touch Them All: Thirteen different Rattlers have combined to hit the 44 home runs, led by Easton Parrish with 10. The 13 players is the most in St. Mary's Division II history, bettering the previous record of 12 players by the 2003, 2004 and 2007 teams.

No Runs For You: After not having one last season, the Rattlers have recorded three shutouts this year, which ranks second in the Lone Star Conference and 29th in the nation. Kaleb Gauna has a complete-game shutout, while the other two are combined shutouts. Both Cameron Hodges and Carlos Flores Jr., have pitched in both.

Regionally Ranked: The Rattlers held steady in the NCBWA South Central Regional rankings, coming in at 9th for the third straight week, earning 11 points. Angelo State holds the top spot for the second week in a row, earning six of the eight first-place votes and 78 points.

Cooking With Gas: Sophomore Gabe Cook needs one more strikeout to record 50 in his career. Cook fanned 13 as a true freshman in 21.2 innings and has added 36 in 36.2 innings this year.

Holding the Lead: St. Mary's is a perfect 20-0 this season when leading the game after six innings and is 2-13 when trailing. The Rattlers are also 8-0 when leading after seven, and 2-0 when tied.

Hitting the Milestones: Senior Jacob Elizondo recorded the 200th hit of his career with his third hit on Sunday against Eastern New Mexico, while junior Garrett Brooks notched his 100th hit as a Rattler on Saturday in game one of the doubleheader and now has 104.

Taking the Extra Base: Senior Easton Parrish is the only player on the team who has more (min. 50 AB) extra base hits than singles. Parrish has 18 extra base hits (seven doubles, one triple, 10 home runs) and 13 singles in his 31 hits in 2025. He is one of six players in the Lone Star Conference to have more than 50% of his hits be longer than singles, joining Brevin McCool, LCU (38/63), Zane Roos, CU (20/39), Justin Harris, ASU (20/35), Hunter Jones, OC (18/33), and Daniel Pruitt, ENMU (15/25).

Getting On Base: Both senior Easton Parrish and junior Tristan Moreno have reached base safely in 10 or more consecutive games. Parrish leads the team with an active streak of 13, one off the longest of the year by Trey Guajardo, while Moreno has reached in 10 straight.

It's An Honor: Junior pitcher Kaleb Gauna was named both the Lone Star Conference and NCBWA South Central Region Pitcher of the Week on March 25-26. Gauna pitched a two-hit shutout against then-#15 St. Edward's, and had a no hitter through 6 1/3 innings. He needed only 90 pitches for the complete game, and is the first since 2022 to throw a complete game shutout for the Rattlers (Steven Medrano at ENMU).

Split or Better: St. Mary's has either split or won eight of the nine Lone Star series this season, dropping only three of four to then-#2 Angelo State. Last year, the Rattlers split or won six series.

In a Pinch: The Rattlers have had six different hitters deliver at the plate when entered as a pinch hitter this season. Matt Gauna (4-for-10) leads the team with four hits, while Brandon Ermis (3-for-5), and Christian Keller (3-for-5) each have three hits. Jaxon Daigre (1-for-6), Trey Guajardo (1-for-4) and Rob Gonzalez (1-for-2) all each have one. Rattler pinch hitters are 13-for-43 (.302) this season, while opponents are only 4-for-17 (.235).

Quite the Career: Senior Jake Elizondo currently ranks among the Division II active career leaders in four categories, ranking 17th in at bats (686), 21st in games played (185), 31st in hits (200), and 40th in runs scored (144). Easton Parrish also ranks 240th with 140 hits.

Swiper, No Swiping: Junior Tristan Moreno tied the school record stealing three bases in the first game on Saturday at Oklahoma Christian. Moreno becomes the ninth different Rattler to swipe three bags in a single game, and the first since Clay Bradford stole three against UT Tyler on April 23, 2022. Moreno is second on the team with 13 stolen bases this season.

Picked Ninth: St. Mary's was picked to finish ninth in the Lone Star preseason poll. The Rattlers received 205 points. Angelo State, which played for the national championship a season ago, was predicted to win the league in 2025, garnering 29 of the 39 first-place votes and 483 points. Defending LSC Champions, Lubbock Christian, was picked second with five first-place votes and 457 points. West Texas A&M, UT Tyler and St. Edward's round out the top five.
