STUNT Advances to LSC Semifinals With Split on Day One

DALLAS — On the first day of the 2025 Lone Star Conference Championship, the St. Mary's University STUNT team split a pair of games to advance to the semifinals on Saturday.
 
The No. 11 Rattlers (9-8) defeated No. 10 Texas Woman's (13-4) in the opening round, 19-10, before dropping a 21-4 decision to No. 5 DBU (13-2) in the second round. StMU will face the winner of the Texas Woman's vs Texas A&M-Kingsville match at 12:30 p.m.
 
Game One Recap
The Rattlers came out firing in the first quarter, partner stunts, scoring a point on all four routines for the 4-1 lead, including winning their first outright point of the season in routine five, though the team had tied twice before.
 
The momentum carried to the second quarter, pyramids & tosses, as the Rattlers outscored the Pioneers 3-1 to build a 7-2 advantage at halftime. StMU won routines 4, 2, and 5, while TWU opened the quarter with a win on routine 1.
 
In jumps & tumbling, the two teams attempted higher levels, competing in routines 6 and 7 to kick off the third quarter, before going with 4 and 1 to wrap things up. The teams tied the first three before StMU gained an edge by winning the final number to stretch the lead to 11-5.
 
The Rattlers outscored the Pioneers 8-5 during the team routine quarter, scoring three points on 4, two each on 1 and 5, and one on 7 for the 19-10 final. 
 
St. Mary's is now 2-1 against TWU this season and 7-1 all-time. The two clubs could meet again in the semifinals on Saturday if the Pioneers defeat Texas A&M-Kingsville in the first contest of the day.

Game Two Recap
It took until the third quarter for the Rattlers to break onto the scoreboard against #5 DBU, though five of the six routines in the first two quarters were extremely close, and both teams forfeited routine 8 in pyramids & tosses.
 
During jumps & tumbling, the Rattlers and host Patriots tied the final two numbers, 2 and 1. The lone outright win for St. Mary's came in the pyramids & tosses section of routine 7 during the second round of the final quarter. DBU outscored the Rattlers, 10-2 in the final stanza for the 21-4 final. 
 
The win moves the Patriots straight to the finals, while the Rattlers must compete in the semifinals in the double-elimination tournament.
