RICHARDSON, Texas — For the first time in his career, St. Mary's University junior
Kaleb Gauna has been named the Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Gauna, a right-hander from Hondo, Texas, pitched a complete game shutout against #15 St. Edward's on Saturday. He had a no-hitter through 6 1/3 innings, allowing only two singles in the 3-0 victory. Gauna struck out seven batters, one off his career-high, and allowed the Hilltoppers to hit only .083 against him. Gauna threw only 90 pitches in the complete game, the first complete game shutout for the Rattlers since 2022, when Steven Medrano shutout Eastern New Mexico in Portales.
This is the first weekly award for a Rattlers' baseball player in 2025. StMU travels to West Texas A&M, starting the four-game series on Friday at 4 p.m.
