FULLERTON, Calif. — The St. Mary's University STUNT team split a pair of games on the first night in California, winning 11-0 against Arizona Christian and dropping a 22-3 decision to host, Hope International.
The Rattlers (8-5) and Firestorm (0-11) played a modified 8-round format, and StMU won 11 of the 12 available points.
In the nightcap, the Rattlers fought tough against undefeated Hope (20-0), scoring the most points against the Royals in five matches.
The Royals came out and won all four rounds in the first quarter, selecting the two toughest routines in eight and seven to showcase their talent on Senior Night.
In the third quarter, the Rattlers broke onto the scoreboard, tying HIU in routine seven, and they won routine two in the final routine for an 11-2 score. In the final stanza, StMU won the second point of the seventh routine in the final round for a 22-3 total.
It is the second point this season the Rattlers have scored on routine seven in pyramids & tosses
St. Mary's remains in Calif., facing both Vanguard and Concordia Irvine on Friday night. The two teams are both ranked in the top-10 in the nation in Division II.
