DENTON, Texas — New to the STUNT world this season, a team can request a modified scoring format, in which teams only compete in two of the four routines per quarter. Both Centenary and St. Edward's requested that, and St. Mary's University Head Coach VanTimmeren agreed prior to the start. The result was a pair of wins for the Rattlers, 11-1 and 11-0, respectively.
The Saturday sweep gives the Rattlers a 3-1 record at the tournament and moves the team to 5-3 (3-2 Lone Star) on the year.
St. Mary's hosts the StMU Triangular on March 5, hosting the Hilltoppers and Texas A&M-Kingsville. The competition begins at 4:30, with the Javelinas and Rattlers meeting for the second time this year.
GAME ONE RECAP (St. Mary's 11, Centenary 1)
The Rattlers won both points in partner stunts, split points in pyramids & tosses and then won the final eight points in jumps & tumbling and the team routines for their second-straight victory.
During the first routine of the fourth quarter, the referee blew the period dead due to a miscue with the music. The teams had to restart with the second part of the routine, but it didn't affect the Rattlers, as they won the final two points en route to the fourth-quarter sweep.

GAME TWO RECAP (St. Mary's 11, St. Edward's 0)
In the first-ever Battle of the Saints, STUNT style, the Rattlers shut out the Hilltoppers, scoring 11 of the possible 12 points for the 11-0 victory.
StMU scored both points in partner stunts and jumps & tumbling, and scored one in the second quarter and all six in the fourth quarter for the second shutout of the weekend.
