SHAWNEE, Okla. — On the first day of the 2025 season, the St. Mary's University STUNT team had to face a pair of conference foes, getting beaten by DBU in a rematch of the 2024 Lone Star Conference Championship, 15-7, before bouncing back to edge Texas Woman's 14-12 at the Oklahoma Baptist Tournament.
Against the Patriots, the Rattlers won one routine in each of the first three quarters, trailing 8-3 heading into the fourth. StMU won four of the next five points to close within two points, 9-7, but DBU won each of the final six points for the eight-point victory. The Gold and Blue won five of its seven points in routine four, going 5-1, losing only one point in the first quarter.
In the match with the Pioneers, the Rattlers trailed 7-6 heading into the final quarter, outscoring TWU 8-5 to come back and post the 14-12 win. The Rattlers scored three points each during the fourth and second routines.
St. Mary's takes the mat early on Saturday, facing 17th-ranked Southern Nazarene at 8:30 a.m., and then must wait all day to wrap up the first week against No. 3 Maryville at 5:30 p.m.
