SAN ANTONIO — St. Mary's University senior libero
Alyssa Koehl was rewarded for all her hard work on Wednesday, as she earned the D2CCA South Central Region Libero of the Year.
The New Braunfels, Texas, native averaged 5.39 digs and 0.37 aces per set over her final campaign, leading the Rattlers (15-13) in both categories. The senior became only the second player in St. Mary's history to surpass 2,000 digs in a career, ending with 2,068. She increased her dig total every season of her career, topping the 600-dig milestone as a senior (604).
Koehl also finished with 122 service aces, ranking eighth all-time at StMU, which translates to 0.289 aces per set, tying for seventh on the StMU career charts. She also served with 94.8 percent accuracy, which ties for 15th best, and her 0.946 reception percentage ranks ninth.
Koehl becomes the first D2CCA All-Region selection since Victorria Martinez earned Second Team honors in 2014, and she is the first Rattler to ever earn First-Team honors.
