KINGSVILLE, Texas — The St. Mary's University Volleyball team has been tested early and often, going five sets for the fifth time in eight matches, and they ended the Javelina Invitational with the win over host, Texas A&M-Kingsville, 25-21, 18-25, 25-21, 24-26, 15-7.
 
The Rattlers end the weekend with a 2-2 record to move to 5-3 on the season. The Javelinas fall to 6-3 as the two Lone Star Conference teams met in non-conference action to wrap up the second week of the season.
 
Senior setter Haleigh Wilk (Salado, Texas) filled the stat sheet and did a great job of finding the hot hand, as she recorded career-highs in kills (5), assists (50) and blocks (4), while leading the Rattlers to a .216 hitting percentage. She also posted another double-double with 12 digs to go along with her 50 assists and was second on the team with two aces.
 
Graduate student Laurene Robinson (Bedford, Texas) continued to play well, notching a match-high 21 kills and 19 digs, bettering her career-high mark in digs by one from the 18 she had in the season-opener against Southern Connecticut State. Robinson collected the 800th kill of her career in the fourth set and now has 802. She also recorded the 400th dig of her career and stands at 401.
 
Junior Taylor Alston (San Antonio) had a pair of career-highs in totaling another double-double as she had 18 kills and 15 digs. Alston also topped the 400 career kill milestone and enters the home opener with 406 to her name, and she passed her season total in digs from last season (50) and has 56 in 2026.
 
Fellow junior Kaylee Cavazos (San Antonio) matched Alston in the dig category with 15 and led the team with three ace serves, while freshman Julianna Guajardo (San Juan, Texas) posted a career-best nine digs. The Javelinas also picked on Guajardo in serve receive, as she took a match-high 29 receptions and was aced only once, showing the poise Head Coach Kristine Pelky is looking for on the court.
 
Freshman Madyson Carr (Houston) also got in on the career-high action, collecting a career-best seven blocks, helping the Rattlers out-block TAMUK 11-to-8. Sophomore Tara Creekmore (Canton, Mich.) hit double digits in kills for the third time this weekend, recording 10 kills.
 
With the win, the Rattlers snap a seven-match losing skid to the Javelinas in Kingsville and improve to 35-32 in the all-time series between the two teams. 
 
The Rattlers open up the home portion of their season on Thursday against Texas Woman's in the LSC Preview at 6 p.m.
