SAN ANTONIO — The College Sports Communicators announced the 2025 Women's Soccer Academic All-District teams on Tuesday, and St. Mary's University had three student-athletes honored for their efforts both on the pitch and in the classroom.
For the third time in school history, the Rattlers had three named to the team, the second-highest number of award winners behind the five by the 2023 squad.
Junior forward
Elena Kossler (Ötztal-Bahnhof, Austria), senior midfielder
Shelby Paniagua (Cibolo, Texas) and senior defender
Abigail Wilson (Tomball, Texas) were all named to the prestigious team.
This is the second honor for Wilson, as she was also part of the 2023 record-setting team for the Rattlers. A theology major, Wilson started all 18 games in her senior campaign, helping the defense allow only 1.27 goals per game, and she played the entire game nine times.
Kossler adds another award to her already impressive list for the season. The 2025 Lone Star All-Conference Forward and Newcomer of the Year is working on a bachelor's degree in international & global studies. She is a First-Team All-Lone Star Conference and Lone Star All-Academic selection and led the Lone Star Conference in game-winning goals (5), goals per game (0.72), points per game (1.78), shots on goal per game (2.28) and shots per game (4.50).
Paniagua is a three-time Lone Star All-Conference First Team selection and is completing her degree in exercise & sport science. She finished second in the conference in total goals scored with 10, trailing only Kossler. Paniagua also ranked fourth in the league in goals (0.56), sixth in points (1.33), and third in both shots on goal (1.67) and shots (3.72) per game.
