RICHARDSON, Texas — St. Mary's University Volleyball student-athlete
Dallasstar Johnson was named the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Johnson, a senior middle blocker from San Antonio, averaged 1.75 blocks per set in helping the Rattlers go 1-1 on last week's road trip. St. Mary's held No. 15 West Texas A&M below a .200 hitting percentage for only the second time in 2025, and on Friday held Eastern New Mexico below .100.
Johnson had six kills and six blocks in the win at ENMU, and followed it up with a season-high-tying eight block assists in the loss at WT. She also added five digs, despite not playing in the back row.
This is the first weekly award of the season for the Rattlers' Volleyball team, and the second defensive player of the week award for Johnson in her career, as she also was honored on Oct. 18, 2022.
The Rattlers wrap up the regular season at home, hosting Western New Mexico on Friday at 5 p.m. and Sul Ross State on Saturday at 2 p.m. for Senior Day, where Johnson and six other seniors will be honored prior to the start of the match.
