Volleyball Back in the Plus Column with Win Over Aggies

SAN ANTONIO – After a tough road swing, the St. Mary's University Volleyball team returned home, snapping a five-match losing skid with a four-set win over Cameron on Friday night, 26-24, 26-24, 19-25, 25-16.

The Rattlers (11-11, 4-8) used tough serving and a balanced attack to defeat the Aggies (2-21, 2-10), serving 11 aces and having four players record double figures in kills.

Graduate student Laurene Robinson (Bedford, Texas) paced the offense with 20 kills, while junior Taylor Alston (San Antonio) added 12 and both freshman Madyson Carr (Houston) and sophomore Tara Creekmore (Canton, Mich.) added 10 each. Carr also led the team with five blocks.

Both senior setter Haleigh Wilk (Salado, Texas) and junior libero Kaylee Cavazos (San Antonio) had three service aces to lead the team, while Wilk collected 47 assists and Cavazos led the team with 13 digs.

Two of Cavazos' three service aces came back-to-back to give the Rattlers the win in the second set. The two teams were knotted at 24-24 when she stepped back to the line. After the first ace, Cameron called timeout, but she was able to put up another stellar serve after the break for the two set lead. Senior Addison Carrillo (San Antonio) added an ace on match point as the Rattlers hit double digits in service aces for the sixth time this season.

Robinson picked up 15 of her 20 kills in the first two sets, as she had 15 kills on 23 swings. She ended the night hitting .372 (20-4-43). She hits the 20-kill milestone for the ninth time in 2026.

St. Mary's remains at home, hosting Oklahoma Christian on Saturday at 2 p.m. The Eagles were swept in Austin on Friday night by St. Edward's.
