RICHARDSON, Texas — St. Mary's University graduate student
Lachlan Bofinger was named the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week after helping the Rattlers' Men's Basketball team win a pair of East Division contests over the weekend.
Â
Bofinger, a fifth-year player from Sydney, Australia, recorded a pair of double-doubles, and nearly posted a triple-double in the overtime win over Texas A&M-Kingsville with 18 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists. Against Texas A&M International, Bofinger missed his career-high in scoring by one, pouring in 28 points with 10 boards. He spurred a huge comeback for the Gold and Blue, scoring 10 of the team's 15 points during a four-minute stretch in the second half.
Â
Bofinger has posted four straight double-doubles and ranks seventh nationally with seven on the year. His four straight ties for the second-longest streak in school history and is one off the record of five by Kevin Kotzur (2012-13). Kotzur also had a streak of four straight during the 2012-13 season and holds the single-season mark with 19.
Â
For the week, Bofinger shot .692 (18-26) from the floor and .625 (10-16) from the free throw line. He averaged 23.0 points, 12.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.0 blocked shots per game.
Â
This is the first weekly award of Bofinger's career and the second for the Rattlers this season, as
Damani Claxton earned Defensive Player of the Week honors on Dec. 9.
