RICHARDSON, Texas – For the second straight week, a St. Mary's University Volleyball player has been awarded a Lone Star Conference Player of the Week award as
Alyssa Koehl was tabbed the Defensive Player.
Koehl, a junior libero from New Braunfels, Texas helped lead the Rattlers to three consecutive sweeps at the LSC Challenge. She recorded at least 12 digs in each of the wins over Oklahoma Christian, Cameron and St. Edward's.
For the week, she collected 26 digs against OC and three service aces vs. CU, adding 11 assists and a .909 reception percentage in the wins. Koehl's 5.89 digs per set brought her to 1,101 digs for her career, moving her up to 12th on the StMU career charts.Â
Koehl now has double figures in digs in 26 consecutive matches and in 59 of the 66 matches in her career. She joins
Cali Nims, who was named the league's Setter of the Week on Sept. 16. This is the second weekly award of Koehl's career, as she was honored once in 2023.
For the season, Koehl is averaging 5.32 digs per set, which ranks second in the Lone Star Conference and 17th nationally.
The Rattlers host Texas A&M Kingsville on Wednesday for the Lone Star Conference opener at 6 p.m. before traveling to Alpine, Texas to face new league member Sul Ross State on Saturday afternoon.
