RICHARDSON, Texas – After earning a place on the Rattler Invitational All-Tournament team, St. Mary's University senior
Cali Nims added another honor to her shelf with the Lone Star Conference Setter of the Week award.
Â
Nims (Corpus Christi, Texas) paced the Rattlers offense over the weekend, averaging 10.53 assists per set and spread the wealth among her hitters as the team hit .232 for the four matches. Three hitters averaged between 2.93 and 3.13 kills per set and hit between .230 and .248 as Nims did a great job of distributing the ball.
Â
She also called her own number when the time was right, averaging 1.27 kills per set with zero hitting errors, for a .388 hitting percentage on the week (19-0-49). Twice in the tournament she had six kills, establishing a new career-high against East Central and tying it one match later against Anderson.
Â
At the service line, Nims amassed six aces with no errors in 69 serves. She also totaled 33 digs (2.20 per set) and nine blocks, including a career-best four in the tournament finale against Anderson.
Â
On Saturday morning, Nims notched the 32nd double-double of her career with 41 assists and 12 digs, which ranks as the sixth-most double-doubles in St. Mary's history.
Â
She is the fourth-ever volleyball player of the week for the Rattlers in the Lone Star Conference and the first-ever setter. Teammates
Dallasstar Johnson (San Antonio) and
Alyssa Koehl (New Braunfels, Texas) have each earned the honors once.
Â
The Rattlers remain at home, hosting the Lone Star Conference Tournament Preview beginning on Thursday. StMU welcomes Cameron, Oklahoma Christian and St. Edward's to Bill Greehey Arena.
