Men's Tennis Has A Quartet Honored on CSC All-District Teams

SAN ANTONIO — Only days after final examinations finished, four St. Mary's University Men's Tennis players earned 2024 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors.

The quartet of seniors Jake Faryniarz (San Antonio), Oskar Irdoja (Tallinn, Estonia), Nicolas Llosa (Lima, Peru) and junior Alvaro Soler (Alicante, Spain) were all named to the team for the first time.

The honor evaluates a player's contributions on and off the field. To qualify, a player must have played at least one year at their current institution, maintain a 3.50 GPA, and be a starter or key reserve player.

Faryniarz ended his career ranked seventh all-time with 44 doubles victories. He and doubles partner Ryan Koth (Boerne, Texas) were named to the Lone Star All-Conference First Team in doubles with a 5-1 mark and were ranked in the top 50 most of the season.

Irdoja was named to the All-Conference Second Team in singles with a 7-1 mark against league opponents and an honorable mention nod in doubles with partner Soler. He finished sixth in school history with 37 singles wins. Irdojoa was also named to the Lone Star All-Academic team for the second-straight season.

Llosa ended his standout career ranked fourth on the singles charts with 43 victories and fifth in doubles wins with 48. He earned three Lone Star All-Conference nods and is a three-time ITA Scholar Athlete, as well as being a seven-time Lone Star Commissioner's Honor Roll selection.

Soler has been named to the Lone Star All-Academic team each of the last two years and was an honorable mention doubles pick. Soler already ranks ninth in St. Mary's history with 30 singles victories. He has also been awarded a place on the Lone Star All-Sportsmanship team each of the last two seasons.

Irdoja and Soler will both be forwarded to the national ballot, which will be announced on June 5.
