NET POINTS

•    The St. Mary's Men's Tennis team looks to build upon the momentum of its shutout victory last week as it heads to Richardson to take on UT Dallas and Hawai'i Pacific over the weekend.

•    Saturday will be the first-ever meeting between UT Dallas and the Rattlers, while St. Mary's is 1-2 all-time against Hawai'i Pacific. The two teams last met in 2019, a 4-1 win for the Sharks.

•    After the quick trip north, the Rattlers kick off Lone Star Conference play, hosting six straight at Rohrbach Tennis Stadium - as well as the alumni match - over the next four weeks.

•    The Rattlers swept the University of Saint Mary in their last outing and Head Coach Bill Macom used 12 of 13 players on the roster as no one played both singles and doubles in the lopsided victory.

•    Senior Jake Faryniarz is a perfect 5-0 in singles duals this spring and has won his last eight matches to go to 9-2 overall. He's won all five this spring in straight sets. He's also 3-0 in doubles play with two wins at #2 and one at #3.

•    Fellow senior Oskar Irdoja is also 4-1 in singles and 3-0 in doubles during the spring. He moves to 16-4 this season in doubles and he's won six straight.

•    Several Rattlers are climbing the career doubles duals victories charts in school history. Nicolas Llosa is tied for seventh all-time with 42 wins, tying Matt Banner (2012-15). Jake Faryniarz is 11th with 35.

•    Nicolas Llosa is now tied for sixth on the career singles wins chart with 38, knotting Carlos Olea (2011-14). Oskar Irdoja ranks ninth on the list with 29 and Alvaro Soler is 12th with 25 wins.

•    At the ITA South Central Regional all nine Rattlers won at least one match in singles play, led  by junior Alvaro Soler who reached the quarterfinals and sophomore Aaron Ben Anton who reached the semifinals of the consolation bracket.

•    Seniors Alvaro Soler and Oskar Irdoja were both named Players to Watch by the Lone Star Conference. The pair were both honored on the Lone Star All Conference team a season ago, with Soler named to the All-Academic, All-Sportsmanship and the All-Conference First Team, while Irdoja was All-Academic and an honorable mention pick.

•    The Rattlers earned the ITA South Central Region Community Service Award in 2023 for the first time in school history. St. Mary's volunteered at the San Antonio Food Bank, with Habitat for Humanity, the Humane Society and hosted free youth clinics to name a few.
