First Pitch

•    St. Mary's Baseball has rearranged the schedule for this week to try to beat the rain. The Rattlers and Rams will now play a doubleheader on Friday at 4 p.m., with single games set for Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.

•    Angelo State owns a 33-11 lead in the all-time series with St. Mary's. The Rams, ranked 15th this week, won three of the four games in the series a year ago and are 16-5 all-time in San Antonio.

•    Senior CF RJ Galvan has reached base in 11 straight, the longest active streak on the team and his hitting streak is at six, the second-longest of the year for any Rattler.

•    Senior RJ Galvan and freshman Dillon Lopez hit back-to-back home runs on Sunday at Lubbock Christian. It is the first time this year and the first time since Brandon Broughton and Easton Parrish left the yard in consecutive at bats at St. Edward's on May 6, 2023.

•    The trio of Rattlers catchers: Devin Goins, Dillon Lopez and Easton Parrish have combined to throw out 11 would-be base stealers. Goins has gunned down five, Parrish four and Lopez two.

•    Sophomore Ryan Romine made the move from behind the plate to on the hill, pitching for the first time this season at Lubbock Christian. Romine allowed two hits and struck out one in an inning of work.

•    Sophomore Garrett Brooks was named both the Lone Star Conference and NCBWA South Central Region Hitter of the Week after hitting four home runs with 13 RBI in five games at UAFS and OLLU.

•    Senior Andrew Girod earned his first save of the season on Feb. 10 against UT Tyler in the 6-4 win. He now has 11 saves in his career, tying Hall of Famer Danny Heep (1976-78) for fourth in St. Mary's history.
