Garrett Brooks was named the NCBWA South Central Region Hitter of the Week Wednesday after his stellar week in helping the Rattlers to a 2-3 record against Our Lady of the Lake and UAFS.
Brooks, an outfielder from Spring Branch, Texas hit four home runs and drove in 13 runs during the five-game week. He totaled seven hits, scored four runs and walked once. Against OLLU on Tuesday, Brooks broke open the game with a grand slam off the scoreboard in right field. In the 6-2 win over UAFS, which entered the game 6-0, Brooks hit a three-run homer in the seventh inning to mount the come-from-behind victory. He went deep at least once and had three RBIÂ in four of the five games. He also did not make an error in the field.
Brooks and the Rattlers begin a four-game series at Dickson Stadium against Oklahoma Christian on Friday at 6 p.m.
