SAN ANTONIO — Eight of the 18 half innings saw crooked numbers posted on Sunday at Dickson Stadium. Unfortunately, UT Tyler amassed more of them in a 17-8 win over host St. Mary's University.

The two teams split the four-game series, moving the Rattlers to 3-5 on the season and the Patriots to 4-4.

The Patriots scored their 17 runs on 16 hits with three StMU errors, while the Rattlers scored eight runs on 10 hits and UTT also committed three miscues.

Luis Aguilar (Alice, Texas), pressed into service yesterday, continued his hot bat on Sunday, going 3-for-5 with three RBI at the top of the lineup. Both seniors
Devin Goins (San Antonio) and
Trey Guajardo (San Juan, Texas) were 2-for-3 on the day and Goins scored three runs.

Easton Parrish (La Vernia, Texas) and
RJ Galvan (Alice) each scored twice, and freshman
Dillon Lopez (San Antonio) drove in a pair in a pinch-hitting appearance in the eighth inning.

Brennan Greer (San Antonio) was a victim of the wind in the first inning, working four innings on the hill in a loss (0-2). He allowed four earned runs on six hits with three walks and a strikeout. The Rattlers used six other relief pitchers during the contest with freshman
Gabe Cook (San Antonio) shutting down the Patriots in the ninth, walking one and striking out one, needing only 13 pitches in the inning.

Rawley Hector moved to 1-1 on the year with the win. He pitched five innings and all three runs scored against him were unearned. He walked one and struck out three. The Patriots pitched four others in relief.

The Rattlers host Our Lady of the Lake on Tuesday at 6 p.m. before heading to UAFS for a four-game series beginning on Friday at 1 p.m.
