Four Repeat as CSC Volleyball Academic All-District Selections

SAN ANTONIO — A quartet of St. Mary's University Volleyball players repeated as College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors on Tuesday, the association announced.
 
Alyssa Koehl, Cali Nims, Alicia Virthe and Landri Withers all earned the honor for the second straight year on the team that is selected by athletics communications personnel.
 
The honor evaluates a player's contributions on and off the field. To qualify, a player must have played at least one year at their current institution, maintain a 3.50 GPA, and be a starter or key reserve player.
 
All four Rattlers earned Lone Star All-Conference honors this season, with Virthe bringing home First-Team honors and the other three were tabbed to the Second Team.
 
Koehl, a junior libero from New Braunfels, Texas, was named to the LSC All-Academic team as well. She is an exercise & sport science major who led the LSC with 5.38 digs per set to rank 22nd nationally. 
 
Nims, a senior setter from Corpus Christi, Texas, ranked third in the league and 19th in Division II with 10.64 assists per set. She ended her stellar career with 2,695 assists, 998 digs and 113 service aces. She ranks fifth in assists, 17th in digs and ninth in aces in St. Mary's history. Nims is pursuing a degree in exercise & sport science and will spend her final semester at Chaminade University.
 
Virthe, who graduated on Saturday with a bachelor's degree in Psychology, wrapped up her standout career with 804 kills, 261 digs, 129 blocks and 46 aces – with 43 coming in her final campaign. The Orlando, Fla., transplant ranked third in the LSC with 0.40 assists per set, fifth with 4.04 points per set and 10th with 3.36 kills per set this season.
 
Withers was honored on the All-Tournament team after recording a career-high 23 kills in the quarterfinals. The Stephenville, Texas native working on a degree in exercise & sport science averaged 3.07 kills and 2.46 digs per set, playing all six rotations. She already ranks 15th in StMU history with 968.5 points and 14th with 849 kills.
