RICHARDSON, Texas — The leading scorer for the St. Mary's University Women's Soccer team earned her first Lone Star Conference Player of the Week honor of the season, announced the league office on Tuesday.
Junior
Shelby Paniagua from Cibolo, Texas, recorded a hat trick in the first half to fuel a 3-2 win over Oklahoma Christian and had an assist to help a win over Texas A&M International. Paniagua's three goal-game was the third in the LSC this season and the first at St. Mary's since 2021. Her play helped the Rattlers extend their winning streak to three games. She leads all of NCAA Division II with a perfect 5-for-5 on penalty kicks this season.
The Rattlers conclude the regular season on Thursday at UT Permian Basin. StMU is currently tied for fifth in the league standings, knotted with Midwestern State, and the top seven advance to the postseason tournament.
