SAN ANTONIO — St. Mary's University Esports had a busy week with a full schedule of matches from Rainbow Six on Monday to Call of Duty on Friday. The season opener week had a rough start, with two losses on Monday and Tuesday; by Friday, Call of Duty picked up the pace with a 3-1 victory over Indiana East.Â
St. Mary's Rainbow Six had an unfortunate loss against Texas A&M-San Antonio, going 0-2 in their best-of-3 map series. Each round was a nail-biter, but St. Mary's could not close the gap. On Tuesday, St. Mary's Valorant lost against Juniata 0-2 in their best-of-3 map series. The Valorant team, with a fresh roster, will note their improvements for the next game.Â
The Fortnite roster made their mark on the season as the duo of
Carolina Pinales and
Hector Heredia-Ortiz placed 14 of 33 in their group and the duo of
Aidan Farrell and
Julian Garcia finished 21 of 22 in their group. The Fortnite team competes against other teams in a battle-royale style competition, earning leaderboard points each week to qualify for the postseason.Â
ECAC officials postponed the start of the Rocket League season. The Rocket League team will start their season against Brooklyn College on October 9 at 7:00 p.m. in a best-of-7-game series.Â
