SAN ANTONIO — The St. Mary's University Esports Call of Duty team advanced to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship after their decisive 3-0 semifinal win over the Nelson University Lions on Monday night.
The Rattlers are set to face the Bellarmine University Knights on Friday, April 17, in a best-of-7 map series. This championship match serves as the program's first
Call of Duty championship appearance, having finished in third place last spring.
"I'm proud of my team," said freshman student-athlete
Emilia Moyeda. "We've come a long way as a team from the start of the year to now."
Freshman
Juan Pina posted 121 eliminations to 48 deaths (2.5 K/D) over 3 maps, setting a personal best and a postseason program record.
"It feels like a return to form," said team captain
David Kamel. "We're playing at the high level of competition we should be playing at."
Before joining Call of Duty for the 23-24 season, Kamel debuted in the Fall 2022 ECAC Halo championship against Fisher College as a freshman. Now, as a senior, he has another opportunity to win an ECAC title.
