RICHARDSON, Texas – The strong start to the season by St. Mary's University sophomore
Shelby Paniagua has gotten her noticed by the Lone Star Conference as she was Tuesday named the Offensive Player of the Week.
Paniagua had a hand in both goals for the Rattlers last week. Against Florida Southern, the Cibolo native took a free kick from outside the box in the 27th minute, hitting the wind gusts perfectly as the ball curled into the net for the first goal of the game. On Sunday against UCCS, she found
Alexis Truitt for a header to knot the score in the 78th minute.
This is the first weekly award of Paniagua's career and the the first this season for the Rattlers. StMU hosts UT Tyler on Wednesday at 5 p.m. in the Lone Star Conference opener for both teams.
