SAN ANTONIO -- One day after earning the Lone Star Conference player of the week, St. Mary's senior
Clay Bradford was tabbed the NCBWA South Central Region Hitter of the Week and will be forwarded to the National Hitter of the Week ballot.
Bradford, a senior outfielder and starting pitcher from Atascocita, Texas, hit .545 for the week in five games. In the series finale at Oklahoma Christian, Bradford tied the school record going 6-for-6 at the plate and hit for the cycle. Over the five games, he had two home runs, two doubles, a triple and eight RBI. Bradford also scored six runs and stole two bases. On the season, he has reached base safely in all 15 of St. Mary's games. In the first game against OC, Bradford was on the hill for a complete game, 4-2 victory over the Eagles. He struck out three in seven innings and allowed only six hits.
This is the first weekly honor for Bradford by the NCBWA.
