Opening Tip
• The Rattlers continue a four-game home stretch, hoping to complete the season sweeps over Oklahoma Christian and UAFS. StMU is currently tied for sixth in the Lone Star Conference standings and in the thick of things for a spot in the tournament.
• St. Mary's remains in the top spot in the Lone Star Conference in three-point field goal percentage defense, holding opponents to 29.9 percent. That also ranks 15th in the nation.
• Senior Caleb Jordan scored the 1,500th point of his career with his third 25-plus scoring game of the season against DBU. He climbed two spots into seventh on the StMU historical lists with 1,515 points.
• Emmanuel Ewuzie is currently the top shot-blocker in the Lone Star, averaging 1.95 blocks per game. He has 41 this season, which ties for third in school history and three shy of the record of 44 by Erik Coleman (1993-94). For his career, Ewuzie has 95 swats to rank 2nd, 17 off the school record of 112 by Kevin Kotzur (2010-13).
• The StMU defense has held five of the last six opponents below 65 points and limited five to fewer than 60 points. The Rattlers have climbed to second in the Lone Star and 23rd in the nation, allowing 64.9 points per game.
• The Rattlers currently have two players ranked in the top-10 in the Lone Star Conference in free throw percentage as Tyler Caron sits in fifth at 89.2 and Caleb Jordan ranks sixth at 86.7. Caron also ranks 19th in the nation, while Jordan sits in 40th.
• One game after junior Jalon Johnson posted a career- and team season-high nine assists in the win over UT Tyler, senior Ryan Leonard followed with a career-best eight dimes against DBU. The two totals are the highest since Caleb Jordan dished out 10 against Huston-Tillotson on Dec. 4, 2021.
• Junior Tyler Caron is four three-pointers shy of the 100 made milestone and 17 shy of joining Caleb Jordan on the career top-10 list at St. Mary's. Jordan currently ranks fourth with 146.
