Five From Women’s Soccer Named CSC Academic All-District

SAN ANTONIO — The St. Mary's University Women's Soccer team had five honorees on the 2023 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team in Juni Ejere, Valerie Hover, Jackie Miller, Love' Tovar and Abigail Wilson.

The honor evaluates a player's contributions on and off the field. To qualify, a player must have played at least one year at their current institution, maintain a 3.50 GPA, and be a starter or key reserve player.

Ejere, a fifth-year senior from Weatherford, Texas, was also named to the Lone Star All-Academic Team for the second straight year and is working on a master's degree in Computer Information Systems. Ejere finished fourth on the team with 13 points after scoring five goals and chipping in three assists.

Hover, a sophomore Mechanical Engineering major, started in all 22 games, scoring two goals and adding three assists as a defender. The McKinney, Texas native helped the Rattlers allow only 1.27 goals per game and advance to their second straight NCAA Tournament.

Miller (El Paso, Texas) was recently named to the D2CCA All-South Central Region Second Team after earning Lone Star All-Conference First-Team honors. The Management major started all 22 games, playing the entire 90 minutes in 17, and was also selected to the LSC All-Tournament Team.

Tovar, another fifth-year senior from El Paso, was fourth on the team, playing over 1,700 minutes this season. She scored two goals and collected one assist, kicking the game-winning goal in the quarterfinals of the Lone Star Tournament over rival St. Edward's and is wrapping up her degree in Exercise and Sport Science.

Wilson joined the Rattlers for the 2023 season and made an immediate impact on defense next to Miller. The junior Theology major from Tomball, Texas, started all 22 games and played over 1,600 minutes throughout the season.
