SAN ANTONIO — A trio of St. Mary's University Women's Soccer players were named to the D2CCA All-South Central Region team on Tuesday.

Sophomore
Shelby Paniagua (Cibolo, Texas) earned a spot on the First Team as a midfielder, while both senior defender
Jackie Miller (El Paso, Texas) and sophomore forward
Sydney Varela (El Paso) were tabbed to the second team.Â

Paniagua tied for the Lone Star Conference lead with both four game-winning goals and nine goals. She was also second in assists (12) and total points (30), trailing only the South Central Region Player of the Year in DBU's Taylor Tufts. Paniagua was honored by the Lone Star Conference on both the All-Conference First Team and the All-Tournament team.

Miller helped anchor a defense that allowed 1.2 goals per game. She started all 22 games, playing the entire 90 minutes in 17. She was also named to the All-Conference First Team and the All-Tournament team in the Lone Star. Miller also added one goal and two assists on the year.

Varela started all 17 games in which she played, missing the final three of the year due to injury. She was second on the team with seven goals and ranked third in the Lone Star in shots per game, as well as fifth in total goals. Varela was also a First Team All-Conference pick by the coaches in the Lone Star.
