Hauer Wins B Draw at ITA Regionals

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – St. Mary's freshman Bernhard Hauer won the B Draw of the ITA South Central Regional on Friday afternoon, posting a perfect 3-0 record.
 
Hauer, joining the Rattlers from Vienna, Austria, defeated a trio of DBU players to win the title. He received a bye in the first round, won the next two matches in straight sets, and bounced back after falling in the first set of the finals in a tiebreaker to win 6-1 and 10-8.
 
Sophomore Alvaro Soler (Alicante, Spain), seeded 12th advanced to the Round of 16 in the main draw before losing in three sets to third-seeded Gonzalo Fernandez of UT Tyler. Six other Rattlers won their opening match before bowing out in the round of 32.
 
Four of the five doubles teams won one match. The teams of Nicolas Llosa (Lima, Peru) and Sebastian Azcui (La Paz, Bolivia) and Oskar Irdoja (Tallinn, Estonia) and Ryan Koth (Boerne, Texas) each winning their first match to move to the round of 16.
 
The ITA South Central Regional concludes the fall season for the Men's Tennis Team. They will return to action on Feb. 3 against Southeastern Oklahoma State at Angelo State.
