First Pitch
• For the second-straight season, the St. Mary's Baseball team has qualified for the Lone Star Conference Tournament. This year, the Rattlers head to #6 Angelo State for a best-of-three series that begins on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
• St. Mary's is 10-30 all-time against the Rams and have lost 15 straight, dating back to the 2016 season. Seven of the team's 20 losses a season ago came at the hands of ASU.
• St. Mary's continues to be one of the best at turning the double play, as the Rattlers lead the Lone Star and rank fourth nationally with 48 DP in 2022. That total is tied for third on the school's single season charts with the 2008 squad. The record is 52 held by the 2013 team.
• The Rattler hitters have been patient at the plate, drawing 242 walks, which is second in the Lone Star and 22nd in the nation.
• Senior Jake Mares ranks second in the Lone Star with 23 stolen bases. He is 23-for-25 and has 67 steals in his career, which ranks second in school history. He is just six shy of the record of 73 by Brandon Bippert (1998-2001).
• Of the 10 players with 15 or more starts on the season, eight have hit at least one home run for the Rattlers, led by Clay Bradford and Brandon Broughton with four each.
