Box Score SILVER CITY, N.M. – The St. Mary's Men's Tennis team tied for the second-most victories in a season in school history, winning its 14th match of the 2021-22 season with a 6-1 decision at Western New Mexico on Saturday morning.

The record for wins in a single season is 18 by the 2016-17 season and this is the fourth time the Rattlers have amassed 14 victories in a year. StMU is also 3-1 in Lone Star Conference action in 2022.

The two and three doubles teams for the Rattlers won 6-4 and 6-2, respectively, while the number one duo fell in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (4).

Freshman
Niklas Knoerr (Tübingen, Germany) and sophomore
Oskar Irdoja (Tallinn, Estonia) finished at almost the same time, each winning in straight sets at No. 4 and 5 singles. Knoerr won 6-2, 6-4, while Irdoja won 6-2, 6-3. Sophomore
Nicolas Llosa (Lima, Peru) also boasted a straight-sets win at No. 6, 6-2, 6-3.

After WNMU won at number one, sophomore
Jake Faryniarz (San Antonio) pulled off the tiebreak win in the first set, 7-6 (4) and finished it with a 6-4 second set win. Senior
Pablo Munoz Baroja (San Sebastian, Spain) won the opening set 7-5 but dropped set two, 6-2. He fought back to win the third set, 10-4 using international doubles scoring.

The Rattlers return home to Midwestern State on Friday, April 15 at 1 p.m. and DBU on Saturday, April 16 at noon. Saturday will serve as Senior Day for both the men's and women's tennis teams.
