Opening Tip

•    After an 11-day layoff, St. Mary's returns to action with the beginning of Lone Star Conference play, hosting Western N.M. and Eastern N.M.

•    This is the second time in the fourth years in the Lone Star the Rattlers have begun league play at home, hosting Western New Mexico on Thursday. StMU was supposed to start the 2020-21 year on the road, but the first four games were canceled due to the pandemic.

•    With the win on Nov. 19, head coach Jim Zeleznak won the 250th game of his career. He ranks third in wins in men's basketball history, needing 30 for second (Ed Messbarger, 279-139; 1964-78). Zeleznak also ranks second in school history with 424 softball victories.

•    St. Mary's made at least three three-pointers in 69 straight games and one or more in 139 consecutive games, dating back to Jan. 14, 2017. This season, the Rattlers are averaging 7.7 triples per game and nine players have sank at least one.

•    Both Emmanuel Ewuzie (16 points, 14 rebounds) and Edward Manuel (12 points, 11 rebounds) recorded double-doubles in the win over Huston-Tillotson. It was the first time since Dec. 17, 2019 the Rattlers had two players with double-doubles in the same contest. In that game, Lamont Traylor scored 13 with 11 boards, while Dylan Isenhower had 15 points and 11 rebounds.

•    Caleb Jordan is two steals shy of 100. Ryan Leonard needs nine rebounds for 100 and Mamady Djikine needs 52 points for 500 and seven rebounds for 250.

•    Senior Caleb Jordan is second all-time in StMU history with 323 free throws made and 33 shy of the record of 356 by Anthony Houston (1986-89).

•    The Rattlers have done a good job of sharing the ball early as they currently rank second in the Lone Star statistics with 17.3 assists per game.
