RICHARDSON, Texas -- For the first time this season, a St. Mary's Volleyball player has been named a Lone Star Conference Player of the Week as freshman middle blocker
Dallasstar Johnson was honored for her stellar week.
The San Antonio native and Madison HS graduate tied her own StMU single-match record (three sets) with 10 blocks in the Rattlers' sweep over UT Permian Basin. She had one solo and nine block assists, helping hold the Falcons to a .047 hitting percentage. Johnson also hit .457 (8-1-15) against the Falcons. In Saturday's sweep over Angelo State, she hit .538 (8-1-13), added three more blocks, and doubled her previous career-high with five service aces. For the week, Johnson averaged 2.67 kills/set, 2.17 blocks/set and 0.83 aces/set, all while hitting .500 and helping stretch StMU's winning streak to six.
Johnson is the first Rattler to earn the award in exactly a year as
Alissa Tolbert was named Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 19, 2021.
