Men's Tennis Wraps Up Local Tournament

SAN ANTONIO – A round-robin tournament between three local teams was the focus of the St. Mary's Men's Tennis Team over the weekend.
 
The Rattlers faced individuals from both Trinity and UIW on the campus of Trinity and in singles action they combined to go 15-15 over six different flights.
 
Of the 11 who competed in multiple singles matches, all recorded at least one victory over the two days, while freshman Rafael Macedo (Brazil) was the lone Rattler to post a perfect 3-0 mark. Macedo defeated at trio of UIW Cardinals – all in straight sets – and lost only one game in his final two matches. 

"This was a good test for the men in extreme conditions against high level opponents," stated assistant coach Lilly Kimbell. "I think we have a solid analysis of the weekend and can plan accordingly to get ready for the ITA Regionals."
 
With so many new faces on the roster, it will take a while to nail down the correct combinations. In the three flights, the six Rattlers duos combined to go 3-12.
 
StMU turns its attention to the ITA South Central Regionals in Wichita Falls, Sept. 30-Oct. 2.
