SAN ANTONIO - Just a day after being named the Lone Star Conference Hitter of the Week, St. Mary's Baseball's
Johnny Hernandez has been tabbed the NCBWA South Central Region Hitter of the Week.
Johnny Hernandez went 7-for-9 on the weekend, recording a pair of three-hit games. Hernandez hit his first home run of the season, a three-run shot in the fifth inning to give the Rattlers the lead for good. He reached base a total of 10 times and recorded both a sac fly and a sac hit. The senior had a slugging percentage of 1.222 to lead StMU and he tied for the team lead with seven runs scored.
The El Paso, Texas native is the third Rattler to earn a region award as
Zach De La Garza and
Connor Schmidt were named Pitchers of the Week earlier this season.
Hernandez is now nominated for NCBWA National Player of the Week voting.
