RICHARDSON, Texas - St. Mary's Baseball senior
Johnny Hernandez was named the Lone Star Conference Hitter of the Week for his outstanding weekend at the plate last week. Hernandez is the third Rattler to earn a Player of the Week award as
Connor Schmidt and
Zach De La Garza both earned Pitcher of the Week honors this season.
Hernandez went 7-for-9 on the weekend, recording a pair of three-hit games. Hernandez hit his first home run of the season, a three-run shot in the fifth inning to give the Rattlers the lead for good. He reached base a total of 10 times and recorded both a sac fly and a sac hit. The senior had a slugging percentage of 1.222 to lead StMU and he tied for the team lead with seven runs scored.
On the season, Hernandez is hitting .33 with seven doubles, a triple, and a homerun while driving in 23 runs.
