Men's Basketball Welcomes Angelo State to Bill Greehey Arena

SAN ANTONIO – The St. Mary's University Men's Basketball team is set to host Lone Star Conference foe, Angelo State University at Bill Greehey Arena this weekend. This series marks the first back-to-back home series of the year for the Rattlers.

Last Time Out: 
St. Mary's played a home-and-home series with Texas A&M-Kingsville last week. On Thursday the Rattlers fell short on the road with a 70-56 setback against the Javelinas. On Saturday in San Antonio, the Rattlers nearly ended the Javelinas six-game winning streak but the Rattlers fell in overtime, giving Texas A&M-Kingsville their seventh straight win. 
 
Opponent Check-In: 
The Rams visit San Antonio having lost their last two contests against Lubbock Christian. Angelo State has picked up three victories in the young season with two of the coming via a sweep of Oklahoma Christian and the other against Texas A&M-Kingsville as the Rams handed the Javelinas their only loss of the season. 
 
Paul Williams and Sam Baker have carried the load on offense for Angelo State this season as their both scoring over 12 points per game. The offense is averaging 77.3 points per game while the defense is giving up 79.1 per game. 
 
Rattler Review:
The Rattlers have faced two tough opponents to start their season in Texas A&M-Commerce and Texas A&M-Kingsville. The teams have a combined 12-4 record. The St. Mary's offense has been led by junior Caleb Jordan and redshirt freshman Tyler Caron who are both scoring over 11 points per contest. Mamady Djikine has made an impact in his first five games with the Rattlers as the junior college transfer is averaging 9.4 points and a team-high 7.4 rebounds per game. Djikine has been a rim protector for the Rattlers, averaging an LSC-best 1.8 blocks per game. 

Series History: 
St. Mary's owns the all-time series lead 23-15, but Angelo State has won the last five meetings between the teams.
