SAN ANTONIO – The St. Mary's University Women's Tennis team has completed its signing class for the 2020-2021 season as announced by Director of Tennis,
Bill Macom.
Bailey Godwin, San Antonio, Texas
Godwin lead Reagan High School in wins during her four seasons, finishing with a 185-29 career record and never losing a district match. She helped her team win their seventh straight District title in her senior year, going undefeated in the district and playoff singles and doubles.
As a junior, Bailey went undefeated in singles and doubles the entire team season and won her third straight District title in the spring individual season and was selected to the Express News All-Area Team.
During her sophomore campaign, she was a State Qualifier in doubles, making it to the final eight teams out of 512 and was selected to the Express News All-Area Super Team.
As a freshman, Bailey won her first District title in singles taking the finals 6-1, 6-0 against Churchill to advance to Regional's.
She is currently ranked 16th in Texas according to Tennis Recruiting.Net. She intends to major in Exercise Science.

Since Bailey is local, I have been able to see her play multiple times so I am confident in her abilities. She comes from a tennis family which is always a plus. I think she has a chance to become one of the top players in our conference during her college career.

Janie Cheverie, Canada
Cheverie attends the National Sports School in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Her highest ITF Ranking was 2,298. She has been concentrating on improving all aspects of her game for the past several months at the Advantage Tennis Academy in Irvine, California. Her intended major is business.

Janie is one of those players who is dedicated to her sport. She's always looking for ways to get better, push herself and get to the best level she can as a tennis player. I see her excelling in college because she is dedicated and her game has large upside. She's very excited about joining St. Mary's and I see her being one of the coaches favorites.

Janie made a great impression during her campus visit. She was an under the radar player who searched out our program. Janie has some very good doubles skills and I think her best tennis is ahead of her. She will definitely have the opportunity to become an impact player for us and she is determined to do so.
