Macom Finalizes Men's Tennis Recruiting Class

SAN ANTONIO – The St. Mary's University Men's Tennis team has completed its signing class for the 2020-2021 season as announced by Director of Tennis, Bill Macom
 
Ryan Koth, Boerne, Texas
Koth was team MVP for the past three years at Boerne High School. He had a stellar career singles record of 151-7, going 74-0 in the individual season. He was the 4A State singles champion in 2017 and 2018 and the runner up in 2019. He was All-Area in 2018 as well as the San Antonio Express News runner-up player of the year. He is currently ranked 28th in Texas and 307th nationally, according to Tennis Recruiting.Net. He intends to major in Business and Marketing.

Ryan has contributed so much to our team by embracing his role as captain. He gives 100% to learning and evolving his own tennis!  And he gives 110% to improving his teammates mental and physical tennis development.  I couldn't be prouder to be his coach and have him on our team

Ryan has all the tools to become a great college tennis player. I believe energy level is going to push a lot of our returners to up their games in practice. He should have a fun local following.

James Finnigan, Smith's, Bermuda, Florida Institute of Technology
Finnigan played at Florida Tech for three years where he finished his career as the number one singles and doubles player. The Bermuda native was runner up for the Sunshine State Conference Freshman of the Year after winning 18 singles matches and 12 doubles during the season. He ranks 12th all-time in singles and 18th in doubles career victories at Florida Tech. He posted six singles wins and nine doubles wins at the #1 position in his final season with wins over national ranked singles player Andres Donayre (7-5, 6-4) from Embry Riddle and St. Leo's top-ranked doubles pair of Auriel Cocanu and Willem Van DerAkken (6-2). He was also an ITA Academic All-American. He will be pursuing an MBA degree at St. Mary's

I coached Jimmy for three years while I was at FIT and saw his game improve rapidly.  He has excellent finesse on the court and utilizes all the angles. He is going to be an energizer for this team and brings a lot of match experience at the top positions to this program.

Nicolas Llosa, Lima, Peru
Llosa hails from Lima, Peru. His father, Luis, is a St. Mary's graduate. He was ranked as high as 12th in the 18 and under division in Peru and as high as 27th in the men's open division. Nicolas also had solid performances in USA College Showcase events. He intends to major in Finance.

What are they saying?
Nico has a solid all court game and is versitile in singles and in doubles. I like his on-court demeanor and passion for the game. It is always great to have a legacy in the program.

Jake Faryniarz, San Antonio
Faryniarz was the 2019 NSID Boy's Singles Champion and MVP and the 2017 Doubles Champion for Sandra Day O'Connor High School. He was team captain his junior and senior year. Jake is a National Honor Society member and was All-District Academic and the school winner of the 2019 Heisman High School Scholarship. His career high school record in singles was 149-8, going 82-1 in the team season. He is currently ranked 30th in Texas and 327th nationally according to Tennis Recruiting.Net. His father, Thomas, is a St. Mary's alum and his intended major is Computer Science.

I am very privileged to have witnessed Jake's tremendous growth and development. Jake has learned how to manage his time, work under strict deadlines, and to recognize the importance of maintaining a strong work ethic. He has made me proud, and as his high school coach, I wish him the very best in all future endeavors.

Jake has tremendous doubles skills and good strength and size. I am looking forward to seeing who he teams with to form a dominant doubles combination. He is another local product who we are glad to have aboard.
