ANGELO, Texas – The St. Mary's softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader at Angelo State on Wednesday afternoon, 2-0 and 5-2 to fall to 15-13 on the season, finally putting the end to an 11-game road trip.

The Rattlers host Rogers State for a three-game set beginning on Saturday at 1 p.m. with a doubleheader and concluding on Sunday at Noon. The team then takes to the road for seven more, including a three-game series at Texas A&M International and two-game sets at St. Edward's and Tarleton State.

GAME ONE RECAP
The Rattlers managed two hits in the first game, one each by junior Taylor Germain (San Antonio) and sophomore Alex Moreno (El Paso, Texas). The Rambelles (19-9) only garnered five in the game, but were able to push two runs across for the game one victory.

Junior Staci Johns (Elgin, Texas) pitched the entire game, not allowing a walk and striking out six to bring her season record to 8-7. In four of her last five starts, the offense has scored two or fewer runs in support.

The Belles scored both of their runs in the fifth inning and Meagan Hill pitched the complete game win for them. She allowed two hits, not allowing a walk and fanning eight.

GAME TWO RECAP
Johns gave the offense a big lift with a two-run home run in the fourth to tie the game at 2-2, but the Rambelles added one in the bottom of the inning and added two in the fifth to hang on for the win and to take the season series 3-1.

Freshman Bari Christian (San Antonio), sophomore Abigale Carney (El Paso) and Moreno had the other three hits for the Rattlers. The Rambelles scored their five runs on six hits and both teams committed one error each.

Sophomore Alex McLennan (Austin, Texas) gave up all five runs on five hits, walking two and striking out one in four innings of work in the loss (5-2). Junior Julia Cruz (Asherton, Texas) pitched the final two frames and allowed only one hit.

Mykayla Corbin threw 6 1/3 innings for Angelo State to move to 8-4. She gave up 2 runs on four hits, walking none and striking out six. Victoria Vasquez earned her second save of the year by pitching the final 2/3 of an inning and retiring both batters she faced.
